Fri. July 6, 2012:
[Dear Readers, thankyou for your patience, while this blog went on a fact-finding mission to southern California and now to Cape Cod.]
-----------------------------
It was in southern California that a thoughtful young couple introduced us to Eckart Tolle -- admired by many, maligned by others.
Either way, nearly everyone should be able to agree that there continues to be outrageous crimes against humanity, by supposedly "religious" people -- not truly "spiritual" people.
Reminder: The vast majority of our planet's Catholics, Jews, Mormons, Muslims, Protestants, and other spiritual faiths are decent, law-abiding, peaceful human beings. But religious "Institutions" need to get a grip.
Mormons Perpetrated This 1850's Massacre, But Suffered Others
We shan't even repeat decades of child abuse & coverups by the YouKnowWho "Church" -- an entrenched Institution which has despoiled the reputation of charitable & faithful spiritual multitudes world-wide over centuries.
During the one single week that Bitesfromedwin was on hiatus, newspapers carried the following cheerful stories:
1. "Islamist Miltants in Mali Continue to Destroy Shrines": [The hard-line Salafi group Ansar Dine, which supports a puritanical version of Islamic Law, consider the centuries-old Sufi shrines in Timbuktu to be idolatrous.]
2. "At Least 15 Die in Kenya Church Attacks": [Masked gunmen hurled grenades into two churches in eastern Kenya on Sunday and then sprayed gunfire at fleeing worshipers, killing at least 15 people in one of the worst terrorist attacks Kenya has suffered in years.]
3. "Pakistan: Mob Kills and Burns Man Suspected of Desecrating the Koran": [Thousands of people dragged a Pakistani man, said to be mentally unstable, because residents said he threw pages of the Koran into the street; Pakistan's blasphemy laws state that anyone found guilty of insulting the Prophet Muhammad or the Koran can be sentenced to death.]
----------------------------------
AND, beyond "religious" actions, here are other random samples of Man's Inhumanity to Man
on one single newspaper page last week:
4. "Bangladesh: Rights Group Cites Abuses in Mass Trials of Guards": [Deaths of at least 47 suspects from maltreatment in detention; widespread beatings and electric shocks].
5. "Germany: Man Facing Eviction Kills 4 People and Himself"
6. "Canada: Head Found in Montreal Belonged to Dismembered Student": [A Chinese student's killing and dismemberment was filmed and posted online; the perpetrator also mailed other body parts to political offices in Ottawa and schools in Vancouver.]
