"Loyal Opposition"? Mitch, NYT, WSJ

Sat. July 7, 2012:

Hello Out There!
The following phrase has been a hallmark principle of governance in Western Civilization for centuries:
To prevent coups d'etats and/or tyranny, the party in power actually needs legitimacy via a

                                                        "Loyal Opposition."

As this 2012 political campaign unfolds, is there anyone Out There who can find
ANY reason to be optimistic about effective USA governance & Loyal Opposition-- no matter who wins this next election?

                                            -------------------------------------------

I.  Arguably, early in 2009 -- shortly after Barack Obama's inauguration -- our Senate Minority leader from Kentucky, one Mitch McConnell, began the current cascade of "Loyal Opposition" against the nation's present Administration.  My goal starting now, he said, is to do whatever it takes to ruin Barack Obama's presidency.

Does anyone else Out There wonder why Mitch McConnell [and who knows, maybe personally Mr. McConnell is a decent God-fearing family man & human being, but would doubtless be the first to admit that he has a face that only a mother could love] -- has received virtually NO CRITICISM for his obstructionism?  Even from Democrats or from liberal media!  Does he get a Pity Pass, for not being fair to look upon [the way FDR did for polio]?  Instead, Democrats & liberals pile on John Boehner, who, to outward appearances, seems like a much more appealing human being with hard Ohio work & tears in his makeup.
In summary:  Is there anything "Loyal" about Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's "Opposition" in the U.S. Senate?
Would it surprise you if his secret answer to this question was:
"I'm being loyal to my country, as Kentucky wishes, by working to eliminate a black, foreign-born, illegitimate, liberal, Muslim-sounding, socialist, unqualified upstart from the presidency"?
Can the USA do better in finding a leader of the Loyal Opposition in the U.S. Senate?

WHY IS NOBODY SPEAKING OUT ABOUT THIS?  DO KENTUCKY CONSERVATIVES HAVE THE RIGHT TO RUN & MAYBE RUIN OUR COUNTRY, NOTWITHSTANDING A 2008 PRESIDENTIAL NATIONAL ELECTION RESULT TO THE CONTRARY?
WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE FROM THE LEFT, EVEN IF ONE HATES THE LEFT?!?
                                              ---------------------------------------------

II.  Here is authentic "Loyal Opposition":

In recent days, both the New York Times AND the Wall Street Journal have severely criticized their favored presidential candidates.  The Times lambastes Obama for yet again failing to persuade voters why the 2010 Affordable Care Act is a genuinely good thing -- while yet again Republican fear-mongering appears to be winning the propaganda wars by a wide margin.

The WSJ rails at Romney for flipping & flopping over whether "Obamacare" and/or "Romneycare" was & is a "tax," as the Supreme Court's Chief Justice now says?

  1. Not very encouraging, to be sure. On the other hand, it is good to see some NATURE in this blog, like the turtle picture under # I. However, why has someone spiked the turtle? That's cruel.
